Floral Arrangement

When your flower arrangement arrives, ensure it has plenty of water and top it off daily to keep blooms fresh.  Display your arrangement in a cool area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (such as heating vents, air conditioners, ovens, and stoves). Every 2 days, drain the vase of all water and then refill with fresh, room-temperature water. This will prevent bacterial buildup, which helps maximize vase life.

Orchid Plants

Place your orchid in bright, indirect sunlight, such as near an east- or west-facing window.  Keep the orchid away from direct air conditioning, cold drafts , ovens, and stoves.

You should water orchid plants only once every 7-10 days, or when the potting medium feels dry. (Overwatering is the most common mistake in orchid plant care.) You can use one of 3 watering methods:

1) Add about 1/4 cup of room-temperature water (don’t use ice cubes, which freeze the orchid's roots) to the base of the plant.

2) Take the orchid plant out of the glass or ceramic container and dunk it in a sink or bowl of water filled with several inches of room-temperature water. Leave it briefly submerged for no more than a few minutes. Then lift the plant out of the water and let the excess water drain out.

3) Take the orchid plant out of the glass or ceramic container and run water over the plant for about 20 seconds, allowing the excess water to drain out.

You can mist the orchid plant daily, but this is not required.

Blooms can last 4-6 weeks. As an added bonus, they are non-toxic to dogs and cats.
